Things You Should Know Before Buying

Before looking at our best picks for today’s article, I want to discuss what you should look at before buying.

  • Ergonomics

I have to say that one of the most important things you have to know before buying a mouse is its ergonomics. This is especially important if you’re a heavy user who spent a considerable chunk of their day on their Mac, an ergonomic mouse will ensure that your hand stays in a more natural position, reducing the strain on your finger and wrist, which can be an issue for a lot of people. The shape and size are big factors in this.

For example, some people might prefer more sculpted and bulkier mice, whereas there might be straight-off uncomfortable for other people. You have to decide what shape and size you need, but be sure to get something that offers better ergonomics.

  • DPI and Polling Rate

Let’s talk a bit about DPI first. For most users, the DPI is somewhat important and some can’t do without high DPI settings. I can say they’re not always higher is better here, which might sound counterintuitive based on everything tech these days. For most normal users, it won’t even matter. Gamers will need something adjustable, both high and low settings.

High DBI settings are excellent for high red displays and dual monitor setups. While low DPI mice are better for precision work. The polling rate is also a pretty interesting thing as it’s a spec that shows you how many times the mouse reports its position to your PC, a thing worth remembering.

  • Wireless or Not

In the past, wireless might have not been as reliable as they are these days. And for that reason, I can’t say that unless you’re a gamer, you’re better off with a wireless option. If you can afford a reliable model, that is, don’t settle for models that have connectivity problems and can’t hold the battery even for one shift.

There are two choices you have here, RF and Bluetooth. While RF is a bit more responsive and easier to set up, you’ll need to dedicate a USB port for it. Bluetooth is much more convenient and has a battery life that’ll last you a long, long time.

Best Overall

This model is the best overall for us. It gets a perfect score in all categories.

1.

Logitech MX Master 3

Best Mouse for MacBook Pro

On top of our list, we have another mouse coming in from Logitech and this makes it three in a row. This time around we have the excellent MX Master 3. That’s the upgraded version of the MX Master 2 that was already excellent. It’s a super ergonomic mouse with great features such as the electromagnetic scroll wheel works with three devices at one in different OSS and has magnificent battery life. The Logitech MX Master 3 is an ergonomic right-handed mouse that measures 4.9 by 3.3 by 2.3 inches in total and weighs about 5 ounces.

It’s one of the better-designed devices around with a tool, body, and rubber coating all around. Despite being at all mouse, it still looks and feels pretty refined and streamlined thanks to its contoured body shape. I should mention that it comes into available colors that include graphite and mid-gray in the front of the mouse. You spot the USB-type support for charging so you can use it while it’s charging the buttons and scroll wheels on the Logitech MX Master 3 is excellent overall and deliver great productivity progress. Before moving on. I should mention that the battery life of this mouse is excellent overall as it can last about 70 days on a full charge and just one minute charging with its USB C cable gives you three hours of use.

The Logitech MX Master 3 runs on the Logitech Options Companion software that’s available for Mac, Windows, and even Linux. So you can use it on all three if needed. This is a mouse dedicated to productivity uses and as such it has all the performance specs to help you complete your daily tasks without any compromise.

It’s packed with the 4000 DPI dart field sensor that works wonders, and it’s great even for some gaming. For video and photo editing, though, it’s just fantastic. There are all the buttons and we’ll help you to be more efficient. Unquestionably the best out there.

Pros

  • USB-C charge
  • Can be used with more than one PC at a time
  • Custom app-specific profiles created and customized
  • Bluetooth or 2.4 GHz
  • Excellent battery time

Cons

  • Not for lefties
  • DPI is not exactly as required
  • Not USB receiver storage
  • Expensive
  • When connected to multiple devices via a wireless adapter, communication is a bit of a hassle

Best Mid-Range Mac Mouse

If you’re looking for a mid-Range model, then this next pick is a great option.

2.

Logitech MX Anywhere 2S

Best Mouse for MacBook Pro
Best Mouse for MacBook Pro

Coming up next on our list, we have the excellent mid-range option again from Logitech. The Logitech MX Anywhere 2S like its name implies the Logitech MX Anywhere 2S is designed to work anywhere because it’s small and streamlined it’s wireless and has plenty of battery. And it also works on various surfaces. One of my favorite out there. Let’s take a closer look. The Logitech MX Anywhere 2S is designed as a travel mouse and you’ll see it instantly.

However, it still has excellent looks overall like all mice in the MX range. It has a standard button layout, including the left and a right button scroll wheel, a square button behind the wheel, and the back and forth thumb buttons like the previous MX to as it also comes in three colors graphite, light gray, and midnight teal, all of which are super attractive. The top part of the mouse is covered with rubberized plastic. That’s pretty gritty, uncomfortable to hold in your hands.

It has a smooth, glossy plastic on the sides and the thumb rest is rubberized, the same as the top of the mouse. One of my favorite things about this mouse is the placement of the micro USB charging port, which is on the front center, which means its use even when charging the setup process is pretty fast and smooth as it works perfectly with Mac OS, it features the Bluetooth, low energy and the dedicated unifying receiver with 2.5 gigahertz.

The Logitech MX anywhere 2S offers a lot of battery life, and with the receiver, it can achieve about 70 days. On top of all that, it works from up to 32 feet away. Like the previous Logitech I mentioned, it has a dark field sensor that works on every possible surface with high precision. It has a DPI of up to 4000 and you can adjust it with fifty increments from Logitech special software.

Pros

  • The charge lasts for about two months
  • Tracks on virtually any surface, including glass
  • Nine buttons using signals
  • Beautiful design

Cons

  • Too small for some users
  • Not higher version
  • Switch between Bluetooth devices hidden under the mouse

Logitech MX Master 2S

Best Mouse for MacBook Pro
Best Mouse for MacBook Pro

It’s the Logitech MX Master 2S. Coming up next we have a superb mouse that has all the features covered and delivers the best battery life out there. The Logitech MX Master 2S. Logitech has delivered some amazing mice for a long time now. And this one here has all the bases covered, delivering quality, reliability, performance, and tracking. Well, it might have some issues. It’s still pretty much amazing. Let’s first talk about the exceptional design of the Logitech MX Master 2S, which comes in three colors gray, light gray, and midnight teal, all of which look excellent. It has a rubberized textured body all around that feels premium.

And the thumb grip definitely will make anyone happy. The whole thing measures about 5 by 3.4 by 2 inches and weighs about 5.1 ounces, which is a bit on the heavier side of things. But it’s so good overall, you’ll forget about it. The Logitech MX Master 2S has some good buttons on it, including the classic left and right buttons, the middle scroll wheel, the additional wheel on the thumb grip mode shift button, and five buttons on the thumb compartment. A great selection for productivity. It has all the necessary features to get you through browsing, writing, and post-processing. I can even say that it does a great job for gaming as it has low latency.

It connects to your PC via Bluetooth. Low energy 2.4 gigahertz receiver to Mac PCs, it has a battery life of about 30 days without any compromise. The Logitech MX Master 2S’s biggest selling point is its precision. That comes from the company’s dark field sensor that delivers a high accuracy tracking on any flat surface. All that up to 4000 DPI. This feature makes it a great mouse for travelers that can’t keep a mousepad with them. Definitely one of the most impressive mice out there a must consider.

Pros

  • Very comfortable
  • Logistic flow software switches to three devices without interruption
  • Extremely customizable
  • Great battery time
  • On laser sensor tracks on most surfaces
  • Charge an entire day in three minutes

Cons

  • A little heavy
  • It may take some time to get used to the gestures
  • There is no higher version
  • Not for gaming
  • High-priced

Best Portable Mac Mouse

If you’re looking for a portable option, which is easy to carry around, this next model would be a good fit.

4.

Apple Magic Mouse 2

Best Mouse for MacBook Pro
Best Mouse for MacBook Pro

It wouldn’t be a good Mac mouse list if I didn’t include the Apple Magic Mouse 2 here. This is one of the most aesthetically pleasing mice I’ve ever seen, delivering an immense level of portability and convenience. It’s also extremely comfortable and has tons of features. It has some small cons that might annoy you, but it’s still a pretty solid choice. Apple is one of the biggest tech companies out there because it always focuses on minimalism, aesthetics, and ease of use. The Apple Magic Mouse 2 fixes those standards with its slim profile, a nice curve on its surface, and white design that’s glossy and is a beauty.

It’s a minimalist stream because the top is made of a single block of acrylic that’s touch-sensitive to taps and gestures. This also makes the mouse an ambidextrous one without any problem. One thing that I despise about the design of the Apple Magic Mouse 2 is that the lightning port is placed on the bottom of the device. This is annoying because you have to place the mouse sideways or upside down while charging, rendering the whole thing useless. For Mac devices, it’s a plug-and-play device and the wireless connectivity is solid with Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity. Comfort levels are also sky-high with this mouse. And I was pretty impressed with the gestures and the touch-sensitive service, despite being a bit thrown off at the start.

I have to say that the Apple Magic Mouse 2 is not designed as a gaming mouse, as it’s not really capable of that, but it does its job excellently for what it is. The multi-touch service delivers a nice feel and the clicks are tactile. One, it can work with different systems with a bit of tweaking. It fits seamlessly in Mac OS, one of the most impressive mice out there.

Pros

  • Excellent battery life
  • Multi-touch level
  • Great for both left and right-hand use
  • Automatically connect to Max via Bluetooth
  • Crafts with lightning USB cable

Cons

  • Needs OS X El Capitan or later
  • Cannot use the mouse while it is charging
  • A shallow design does not fill the curve of your hand

Best Budget Mac Mouse

We are going to start this list with the best budget option that you can get your hands on.

5.

VicTsing MM057

Best Mouse for MacBook Pro
Best Mouse for MacBook Pro

We’re going to start the list for the best for Max with a super affordable option, the VicTsing MM057. As I said before, a few years ago, wireless mice were very expensive and still didn’t deliver enough reliability. But you’ll see with VicTsing MM057, they can be quite cheap and very reliable at the same time without making big sacrifices on comfort and ergonomics. So let’s take a look. Starting from its design and shape, the VicTsing MM057 is a pretty compact and simplistic mouse coming in with a classic asymmetrical, right-handed contoured shape that has some rubber grips to deliver you more comfortable overall.

Moving on, I should state that it comes in a wide range of colors like black, blue, silver, pink, purple, red, and so on. But to be honest, just the black and silver options look good enough. The whole thing measures about 4.5 by 3.1 by 2 inches, making it a bit tall for its size. But with a 3.2-hour wait. It’s good enough for most grips in terms of buttons. It has just the classics left and right clicks, scroll wheel, a CPI button, and the thumb buttons. You expect more of a customizable package that has tons of buttons. This might not be the best option for you.

My biggest area of concern was the connectivity because it’s cheap. However, there was no latency or delay on the transmission, thanks to the hidden Nano receiver that connects with the 2.4 gigahertz frequency signal. It has a range of 12 meters and the battery will last you more than a year. At the very least, it’s perfectly compatible with Mac OS systems and it’s great as a travel mouse.

As I said, the connectivity is solid and the DPI ranger, this mouse spans from 800 to 2400 and has two polling rates, one 25 hertz, and 250 hertz. The Nano receiver can be stored at the back of the mouse, where not in use. And I can comfortably say that for its price VicTsing MM057 is a solid mouse and must consider.

Pros

  • Easy-grip
  • Wireless Nano connection
  • Great battery lifetime
  • Excellent designed

Cons

  • Just for right-hand use
  • Not as required
