Things You Should Look For Before Buying
Before looking at our best picks for today’s article, I want to discuss what you should look at before buying.
When it comes to gaming and not just console gaming, comfortable headsets just before everything else. Gamers know that gaming sessions can get a little too long at times and everything starts to get annoying. So if your headset is not comfortable, then you’re going to suffer for that reason to use headphones that are comfortable on your head.
This doesn’t mean just plush padding, but also breathability, weight, and clamping force. All of these factors must be at least acceptable to have a better performance. Breathability is one of the most important factors, in my opinion. So pay extra attention to that.
The microphone, every gaming headset may be overlooked most of the time. So it’s not all of us play online games. However, for those that are particularly fond of squads-based online games such as for night or Apex Legends, you should pay extra attention to the microphone of your Xbox headset.
This is because communication is crucial and failing to alert your teammate to the location of your enemy might be a difference between a win and a loss. This has happened to me too many times. Trust me on that one. Also, the microphone is important for streamers that communicate with their audience and share their experience.
In every headset, not just for Xbox. You should pay extra attention to the sound quality. However, when it comes to gaming, you should pay extra attention if your headset has a surround sound feature. This is one of the most useful features for gamers, especially for competitive players that want a competitive advantage. This feature delivers a 360 degree sound, allowing you to effectively have more situational awareness.
Overall, stereo sound is good as well. However, if you want the very best, I need to hear every footstep of your competition at all times. Then you probably need surround sound. Also, don’t neglect the sound quality which is crucial for listening to schools, dialogues, and everything else in between.
Best Wireless Xbox Headset
If you hate wires, then this next product is a great option for you because it’s our best wireless pick.
For those that are looking for the very best headset for Xbox console systems, you’re in the right place. Since the Plantronics RIG 800LX is just that. It provides the best gaming experience with its lightweight design. Comfortable features a solid audio performance. Dolby Atmos features wireless performance that will impress anyone and great battery life. If I had to describe the design of the Plantronics RIG 800LX with one word I would have to say aggressive. Not bad in any way.
Despite not being designed to be statically pleasing with its industrial design that features large air cups with tons of ports, structural support, and all the other tidbits, it’s designed as a gaming headset with an industrial vibe to it. On the left air cup, you’ll spot the volume and game chat, balance power, switch on the micro USB port, and move on. You’ll see the EKU mode on the right and the whole thing is bulky and angular. However, all of that translates into elevated comfort levels that make this want a fan favorite. It has plush air cups.
That’s great on my head and it has the suspension headband style. Adjusts itself automatically to deliver support and comfort at the same time, both the air cups and the headband are covered with a mesh fabric that makes them breathable. And despite being a large device, it’s pretty lightweight. The gaming performance, the Plantronics RIG 800LX, is provided by the 40-millimeter drivers that are located on each AACAP, and the experience was on another level. This is despite these headphones being wireless, which always deteriorates the performance.
The Dolby Atmos experience, though, is amazing, delivering a true three-dimensional sound that’s found on more expensive setups, allowing you to fully dive into movies and story-based games. The very best, without a doubt.
- Beautiful design
- Great audio features
- Involves Dolby Atos for headphones
- Great battery time
- Occasional state
- The microphone may be fuzzy
Before we talk about the best model overall, let’s look at the runner-up for this list.
The runner-up on this list is a pretty affordable headset that’s specifically designed for Xbox consoles. The Turtle Beach Stealth 600. This is one of the strongest competitors, despite having a pretty affordable price and delivering interesting features such as immersive virtual surround, sound comfort, wireless performance, a great battery life. I have to start by saying that the Turtle Beach Stealth 600 is not really a stealthy headset. In fact, it’s pretty obnoxious. And you can notice it’s a gaming peripheral from miles away.
The Xbox’s bright green color over the glossy black body makes it look like a toy. Actually, it’s pretty extreme overall, not something I’d consider elegant and aesthetically pleasing. It has a boom microphone attached to its body that folds back. But I don’t have good things to say about the design. The comfort levels are pretty good, though, starting from the year comes despite their foam padding. These have a little swivel to them so you can get a pretty comfortable fit. Overall, there’s plenty of foam padding of the headband as well, and a whole setup is pretty breathable to ensure that nothing distracts you during your gaming sessions on the left here, couple this headset.
You’ll notice the controls were playback volume chat, volume dial like can I get a bit messy? But it’s pretty good once you get your bearings. The gaming performance, the Turtle Beach Stealth 600, is pretty much flawless. That much I can say, because both the stereo and surround sound performance on Xbox One is very immersive, both in more competitive shooters and more story-driven games. These headphones delivered a pleasing performance.
- No wires needed
- It’s easy to connect to Xbox One
- Polite voice
- Free chat and game volume control
- Excellent battery time
- The headset is limited to audio settings
- Strange fit
- Excellent mic design
- Short PC adaptability

Best Build Quality
If quality is your main focus, then you should consider this next model because it has the best build quality.
The third entry on our list is the Astro A40 that comes with the exceptional mix amp Pro TR, which is fully optimized to work natively with all Xbox devices to deliver a superb experience. This headset combines the best build quality in the category of amazing audio quality, elevated comfort levels and so much more, all in a single body that comes at a competitive price. The Astro A40 rocket Pretty interesting design that’s very attractive overall and looks beautiful with its Two-Tone white color scheme that goes so well with Xbox controllers.
However, it’s a gaming-centric design and it won’t be everyone’s favorite. So I should mention that the immense build quality will make these last a lifetime. Despite being made out of plastic, the outer part of the aircraft can be detached to result in a semi-open setup, and those panels can be swapped for customization and personalization. There are structural supports on this headset that make the whole thing highly adjustable so you can slide them up and down to suit your head shape and size. On top of that, the headband has plenty of padding that delivers a pleasant comfort feel. These headphones weigh 300 grams. They aren’t the lightest around, but they feel pretty good on the head despite being pretty stiff at first.
The cloth that’s placed on the padding of the air cups is also very breathable and swappable. If you need anything else, there’s a removable microphone on this device and a 3.5 millimeter port on the bottom that houses the detachable cable, which is great for durability. In the package, you’ll find a two-meter cable, which is pretty good. The mix and Pro TR is also a great addition as it provides volume control and activates the Dolby pro logic to surround sound technology, which is excellent for Xbox users. The audio performance is great overall, but what impressed me the most was that it played music pretty pleasantly. An immersive experience was just flawless.
- Killer gaming quality and looks to fulfill its status as a gaming megastar
- Beautiful design
- Great sound features
- custom art options available
- Mix Amp Pro TR delivers considerable physical control
- Expensive considering the cost of post-Astro MODS. It would have been nice if the latter had been cheaper or the A40 cheaper. But, the game branding with COD is only because this model is expensive, not at all
- Too expensive, especially for wired headsets, the surround sound in the head headset is not efficient
The Most Versatile Headset
Moving up We have the most versatile model out there. Let’s take a look.
Coming up next on our list, we have another pair of cannons from HyperX, the Cloud II. These are one of the most versatile headsets you can buy via Xbox console as they deliver amazing comfort, a nice microphone, great design, lightweight body, and solid sound performance for everything, including music, gaming, movies, and much more. On top of that, the price is pretty affordable. Still, the hyperX cloud stinger that we talked about earlier was not a particularly stylish pair of cans. It lacked some touches to make it an aesthetically pleasing headset.
On the other hand, the HyperX Cloud II has plenty of style going on with it, especially for the price that it retails at its mostly all black with tastefully gray handbrakes logos on each account. Definitely a great option for those who value style. The metal forks that connect the headbands to the air cups are also great and give an industrial vibe that looks so stylish. Fiber Exclamatory also has a detachable microphone with a body that extends to 6 inches and has a foam tip in the package. You’ll also find the USB dongle that has the controls for the chat volume game volume and the 7.1 surround sound among everything else.
I should also state that the 312-gram weight might sound a bit much, but they’re extremely comfortable on your head. They fit extremely well and highly adjustable, without forgetting to mention the plush padding and leatherette covering on both air cups and the headband to ensure a great experience, the audio output to the high cloud two is pretty good as well, delivering a pretty pleasing experience while listening to music.
I have no complaints, of course, is not a proper music headset, but it was good overall in gaming, though it delivered a beautiful experience, it provided the needed competitive edge in gaming, complete with directional sound effects, dialogues, voice chat scores and so much more. HyperX Cloud II can do it all.
- Excellent build quality
- Great comfort level
- Designed to suit both gaming and non-gaming backgrounds
- Excellent microphone
- Great sound features for competitive gaming
- Less than required bass level
- 7.1 The surround sound is moving a little
Best Budget Headset For Xbox
If you want a budget, then I’d recommend this next model and it’s one of the best and cheapest out there.
If you’re searching for a cheap option when it comes to a headset for your Xbox console, then you should check out the HyperX Cloud Stinger. These are some lightweight, comfortable, and powerful sounding headphones that are designed to deliver better gaming performance. It might not be the best option out there, but it delivers a lot for its price. Let’s check it out. We’re looking at a wired pair of gaming cans here, and some things come with that tag. For example, you should know that gamer peripherals feature flashy designs, but the hybrid cloud stinger is not particularly like that. It has a Jet-Black finish with a large red HyperX logo plastered on each aircar. It’s OK from an aesthetic standpoint and the quality is not bad.
However, you will notice that it’s a budget-priced device from miles away. There is a nice headband on the HyperX Cloud Stinger that’s thickly padded to deliver you tons of comfort. It’s also highly adjustable and will fit into most head sizes out there. The accounts are also highly padded and covered with faux leather to deliver a nice amount of comfort by excluding. Stinger also weighs just about 275 grams thanks to its plastic construction. I felt that the clamping force was good enough on the weight distribution was well balanced to deliver a good amount of comfort. So no complaints here. The HyperX Cloud Stinger is packed with 50-millimeter directional drivers on each aircraft to deliver a superb gaming experience. I tested it first with music.
I delivered a good base experience, but not the deepest. I’ve heard the meds were pretty pleasant and the highs were so. But the pleasant performance overall for gaming, though, it delivered a superb experience with Xbox consoles, especially when it came to directional sound and sound effects. One of the strongest I shouldn’t forget praising its microphone, which is pretty clear for voice chat and swivel to mute feature was a dream come true.
- Great build Quality
- Beautiful design
- Clear sound
- Flexible microphone
- Extended gameplay can get a little hot
- Not additional features
- Audio wire and microphone not available
- The headset cord is shortened when the Y-adapter is used without extension
