Things You Should Know Before Buying

Before looking at our best picks for today’s article, I want to discuss what you should look at before buying.

  • Camera Types

The first thing you have to know before shopping for smartphones for camera purposes is that there are different camera types out there. Generally, there are six main types of them, including standard ultra-wide telephoto, macro monochrome, and depth sensor. Standard cameras are the most versatile, ultra-wide of a wide-angle for landscape photography. So the photo ones deliver better zoom performance macros are pretty rare, but a great addition. Monochrome cameras use a true black and white performance. Depth sensors or 3D sensors are exceptional at delivering interesting results. So there’s a lot to choose from.

  • Number of Cameras

You have to know that most phones nowadays have at least two cameras on their camera array on the rear only budget devices of just one main sensor on the back. But then again, these days, even those phones deliver triple-camera setups. For those that are not sure about how many cameras they need, I’d recommend asking yourself what you want to photograph the latest high-end models, even our 6 cameras and their body, which is impressive. But if you won’t need all 6 of them, it’ll be a waste of money. So be sure to determine how many and which of them you may need.

  • Brand

Well, you’re not buying just a camera. You are buying a smartphone as well. So it needs to have functionality and should be something you like. For that reason, I try and discuss the best camera phones from different brands so you can find the one that fits your needs the most. If you’re particularly fond of one brand of phone, then you should probably opt for that one. But then again, don’t sacrifice quality and performance.

Best Overall

This model is the best overall for us. It gets a perfect score in all categories.

1.

Google Pixel 4

Android

The best camera phone for this year is the Google Pixel 4. It’s exceptional overall delivering super-smooth performance, futuristic AI capabilities, the 90-hertz refresh rate on its screen, and class-leading camera performance. So let’s take a closer look. We’ve seen some amazing phones on this list with some very futuristic designs, not just popping holes and so much more, but the Google Pixel 4 is none of them delivering a pretty simplistic experience, still coming in with a chin, a bit thicker for it. However, I like this one more since it’s more intuitive to use and you don’t accidentally touch the bottom or the top of the screen.

The unique aesthetic of the Google Pixel 4 isn’t for everyone, but I’m a big fan of it. On the front, the Google Pixel 4 is packing a 5.7-inch OLED panel with full HD plus resolution. It’s very colorful and delivered a very stellar performance. It feels a bit cramped compared to other phones, but I’m a big fan of it. Without forgetting, I should state that it has a 90-hertz refresh rate. It’s equipped with a Snapdragon 855 chipset and 6 gigabytes of RAM to deliver a very pleasing performance overall, thanks to its wide array of improvements.

The Google Pixel 4 rocks 2 cameras on the rear, which seem a bit modest compared to its competition. However, 2 are enough here. It has a 12-megapixel main camera with a great field of view and a 16-megapixel telephoto lens that improves zoom and provides superior, low-light performance. While it’s not night and day compared to the Pixel 3, it is a solid improvement, making it the best in the market.

Pros

  • Google’s showcase of what Android should look like
  • 90 Hz display in 60 Hz competitors
  • Telephone camera while others have ultra-wide and no telephoto
  • Overall good picture quality, excellent portraits, and okay selfies
  • Excellent video stability

Cons

  • No fingerprint, such biometric permissions are available in some apps, nuclear g radar-based gestures
  • Strange limitations in 90 Hz display behavior
  • Battery live at the end of the class chart
  • Quality performance at the bottom of the spectrum for hardware
  • Well, the Ultra Wide Angle camera doesn’t exist, as do others
  • There are no bundled cable earbuds or adapters
  • Limited market availability (due to far more Motion Sense radar)

Best Runner-Up

Before we talk about the best model overall, let’s look at the runner-up for this list.

2.

Galaxy S20 Ultra

Best Camera Phone Android

The runner-up on this list is one of the most impressive phones ever made. The Galaxy S20 Ultra. This phone delivers a flawless camera, 5G connectivity performance specs, enough for a laptop, a great battery life, a 120-hertz refresh rate on the display, and a lot more. However, it’s one of the most expensive phones I’ve ever seen, so it’s not for everyone compared to its predecessor, the Galaxy S20 Ultra doesn’t look different.

It has the same design as the Galaxy Note 10. It has curved edges on the screen and the back and the display is near to the edge of the metal. It adopts the infinity hole on the front for its front selfie camera. On the back, it has an aggressive rectangular camera array and I can’t say it has the best design I’ve ever seen. Samsung is the biggest phone screen supplier in the world and of course, its phones have the best screens. The Galaxy S20 Ultra has a 6.9-inch display with a 20 to 9 tall aspect ratio with a 3400 by 1440 resolution.

It also has 120 Hertz resolution, which offers super smooth content. The brightness is also amazing and I think that this green delivers one of the most pleasing viewing experiences for performance. It’s powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865 processor that delivers better performance than most. To top that off, it has a whopping 16 gigabytes of RAM and 512 gigabytes of storage, making it have more power than a laptop. The 5000 MHA cells keep it powered at all times. Looking at its camera array with the Galaxy S20 Ultra has a lot going on with it.

It has a 108-megapixel sensor, 4 tons of detail, 10 times lossless zoom, and a 100 times digital space zoom to deliver a pleasant performance. Overall, I particularly like the autofocus performance, which was extremely fast. Overall, if you want a super detailed performance, this is it. But then again, if you’re interested solely in photography for that price, you can buy a great DSLR or mirrorless system.

Pros

  • Large, bright, and beautiful 120Hz AMOLED display
  • The stunning periscope telephoto cam offers versatile zoom options
  • According to the stable performance of the new gene chipset upgrade
  • Stereo speakers are good and fast
  • Charging too fast

Cons

  • High cost
  • Underwhelming battery time with 120Hz refresh rate
  • The 108MP non-cell camera fails to avoid hype
  • ‘Space Zoom 100X’ is for marketing purposes only
  • The performance of the fingerprint sensor is behind the competition

This next model has the best-looking display out there, so if you like vivid and realistic colors, this one is for you.

3.

Huawei P40 Pro

The third entry on our list is the Huawei P40 pro. It comes as one of the best phones ever made. And I have to be honest, it has some superb hardware packed in it. It also has an exceptional battery life, superior cameras, pleasant design, and a lot more. However, it lacks the Google Mobile Services, which limits its capabilities as a smartphone. I’ve seen and tested a lot of Huawei phones with beautiful designs, but this one here is the most aesthetically pleasing of them all. It gives you the premium feeling that its predecessors lacked.

The company has used a quarter of overflow display on the front that uses a curved glass and all 4 edges of the phone give a pretty pleasant feel to the phone and everyone that holds it says the same on the front. It’s back to the 6.58-inch screen with a superb resolution of 1200/2640. It’s not quite quad HD. However, it has a pixel density to match it at 441 pixels per inch. The screen looks gorgeous and it offers a maximum refresh rate of 90 hertz. The colors of the panel are also amazing, and it delivers a beautiful viewing experience coming to the performance.

It has a kirin 995G chipset that is superb and fast enough to keep up with every phone out there. It also has 8 gigabytes to ram to complemented and it comes with 256 gigabytes of storage, making it an exceptional choice. Moving on to my favorite part, the Huawei P40 Pro has an amazing set of cameras on the back that’ll make anyone jealous. First off, let’s talk about the 50-megapixel F1.9 primary camera and the 40-megapixel ultra-wide cameras that deliver a perfect performance there, coupled with the 12-megapixel telephoto which delivers 5 times optical zoom. And you’ll also spot the TOF sensor here. The RYYB sensor on the primary camera delivers some interesting colors and I can confirm that the AI features are very well implemented for some interesting features.

Pros

  • Eye-catching curved design, waterproof body
  • Great high resolution 90Hz OLED screen
  • Flagship grade permanent performance
  • Reliable battery life, running
  • Excellent image quality day and night in all cameras
  • Advanced selfies
  • Excellent video quality, excellent stability throughout the board
  • All-round contact, though no 3.5mm jack

Cons

  • Takes only an NV card for memory expansion
  • No Google mobile service doesn’t mean that some apps and games will never work, no matter what
  • Image Night Mode is not the limit to proceed
  • 4K60 videos are disappointing

Best Build Quality

If quality is your main focus, then you should consider this next model because it has the best build quality.

4.

iPhone 11 Pro Max

Best Camera Phone Android
Best Camera Phone Android

Next up on our list, we have the latest smartphone from Apple the iPhone 11 pro-Max. This is one of the best-made smartphones out there showing us why Apple is where it is today. It delivers amazing build quality, tons of power-packed in it, battery life for ages, cool, minimalist design, and cameras that will impress even the most nitpicky of users. Let’s check it out. Compared to last year’s iPhone access Max, the company hasn’t changed the design of this device, at least on the front.

Then again, we know that Apple doesn’t like making radical changes. However, on the back part, things are improved. It has a brand new matte glass that feels exceptional overall. It also isn’t a fingerprint magnet and is a great upgrade. Overall, the notch remains the same on the bottom houses the lightning port with 2 speakers on each site. This beautiful phone is packed with a 6.5-inch OLED panel that is streamlined and refined by the company to deliver a better performance. First off, it has true tone technology. That’s great and it feels wonderful.

I should also mention that the iPhone 11 Pro Max delivers support for Dolby vision and has a brightness rating of 1200 nits in HDR content. Also, if you want the world’s fastest phone, you have the A13 Bionic processor that delivers perfect performance in all benchmark tests. It wrecked its competition. The battery life is also better here, thanks to the efficiency of the chipset coming to the most important part. This amazing phone packed 3 cameras on the rear. It has an exceptional 12-megapixel main sensor, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide sensor, and a 12-megapixel telephoto sensor that does a perfect job.

They sit on the square array on the back and all of them deliver a pleasant performance. While 12 megapixels might not sound like much, this one delivered a pleasing photographing experience, especially with its nightmare, taking amazing photographs even at night. It can also shoot 4K videos at 60 frames per second. So no weak points here.

Pros

  • Strict and waterproof design, matte back
  • XDR screens are bright OLED surroundings with excellent contrast and color accuracy
  • The Apple A13 Bionic is the fastest smartphone chip on the planet
  • Great battery time, fast charging
  • Class stereo speaker with leading quality
  • IOS provides a smooth user experience
  • Superb selfie photo and video quality

Cons

  • The mark is still too high
  • The high refresh rate screen makes it more competitive
  • Understanding and managing file transfers are not easy in iOS
  • Camera images are exposed
  • The telephoto cam is 2x while competitors are already at 3x and even 5x
  • The camera options must be inside the camera app, as well as Apple!
  • Expensive

Best Budget Option

We are going to start this list with the best budget option that you can get your hands on.

5.

Google Pixel 3

Best Camera Phone Android
Best Camera Phone Android

We’re going to kick off this list with an amazing option here. The Google Pixel 3. This is one of those phones that delivers an immense quality for its price. And on this list, it’s the budget option. It comes with a great screen, nice size, interesting AI features that will impress anyone, and a super clean Android interface in addition to all this. It has one of the best cameras out there that will check out the Google Pixel 3 might be an old phone compared to the others in this list.

And it doesn’t show that it has a beautiful and similar two-tone design with a shiny gloss on the top part and a matte finish on the other part. It definitely feels amazing overall. And I have to say it’s one of my favorite phones ever made. However, it still adopts the chin and forehead design on the front while other phones have notches or dots and no chance at all if you want an all-screen design. This might not be for you. The Google Pixel 3 is packed with a 5.5-inch OLED panel. That’s perfect, in my opinion. And the phone itself weighs just 148 grams in total.

It resembles its predecessor, but it has an 80 to 90-pixel ratio and more colors overall in terms of performance it packs the impressive Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 CPU with 4 gigabytes RAM and 64 gigabytes of storage with a basic package. This might not sound like much, but what boosts this phone’s performance is its amazing AI features that take it to another level without any compromise. The battery life is decent as well with its 2920 Mah cell.

When it was first released, the Google Pixel 3 was dubbed as the best camera phone ever made. And it’s still up there with the best. However, the most impressive thing is that it has just one 12.2 megapixels main sensor that’s more impressive than its competitors. With 3 or 4 cameras, it delivered sharp results with tons of brightness and so much more. All of that is done thanks to the AI features that we talked about. And low light shots are marginally better than anything at its price.

Pros

  • Compact, with a strong hand feel
  • Great camera all around
  • Solid display and good battery life, though not chart-topping

Cons

  • Only one camera in the back when each has at least two
  • Extreme load under constant load, only 4GB of RAM, more than 128GB of storage options, and no expansion possible.
  • Disappointing audio quality by Dongle
  • No 4K / 60fps video recording
  • Limited availability
